Insight Into the Vision, Objectives & Lessons from Our District Leadership

Using a combination of snippets from our past governors successful themes, is what inspires the 2023-2024 theme of Community Optimism. Familiar words, such as imagine the opportunity that the power of one has, to prove that optimism is critical for the worlds future, that Optimists inspire awesomeness as a way of bringing out the best in kids. I am honored to have been elected Governor of the SWIS District of Wisconsin. With my career in law enforcement and our dedication to Optimism, together, lets set our sights on RESPECT FOR LAW, have fun talking about SWIS DISTRICTS 30 YEARS and perfect for our COMMUNITY OPTIMISM.

Governor's Update

Being an Optimist member since 2004 and experiencing various Optimist leadership positions, I have seen incredible leadership, visited many clubs, and attended fund raising events throughout the SWIS District. What is evident is that no matter how large or how small your club is in membership, WE are all aiming for the same goals, that is, to advocate optimism as a lifestyle and to exemplify it in our community.  Being serious about growing your Optimist Club should include attending a quarterly conference and/or an international convention for that added support and boost.  It’s the absolute optimist “rush” that one gets when surrounded by Optimist members from around the world. It is a magical feeling that could really hook someone.

I’ve been active in the community my entire life. I have 25 years of street Law Enforcement experience. I retired from the New York City Police Department as a Homicide Detective. I then moved home to Wisconsin and became the first female Detective for the Town of Lisbon Police Department for another 5 years. No doubt, you understand my passion for RESPECT FOR LAW.  In my past, I was a Boy Scout leader and Events Chair for Waukesha Civic Theatre, and, of course, founded the SLLB Optimist Club.  Today, I bring and share my optimistic experiences to other community organizations such as, the German Club - Spielmannszug Drum and Bugle Corp of Milwaukee and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

We are all busy people! We are all dedicated optimists! We are volunteers. Please join me, have fun, and support me so together we may have another successful SWIS District year.
