Optimist Club Welcomes Jenny Kozlowski of the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue Center
Jenny Kozlowski of the Big Cat Rescue Center was the guest speaker at the October 16th Optimist meeting. Jeff and Jenny Kozlowski established "Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue" in March of 2005. They have been working with big cats for about 9 years. They are licensed by the USDA, and are also a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. In one year, another big cat rescue turned away hundreds of cats. So, then they started the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue. They built cages on ldonated land. They started with six cats and in less than a year they ended up with 26 big cats. Their goal now is to give these cats a home where they can live out their life. They can simply run, play, and relax as they please, and receive plenty of love and attention. The Rescue is open to the public. The Rescue does not receive any state, federal, or local funding; it functions entirely on its admission fees, donations, sponsorships, and volunteer work. They invite schools and groups to come not just to look at them, but also to learn. The main objective is to protect the well-being of the animals. Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue & Educational Center gives the cats a chance at a peaceful and happy life and a chance for the public to learn about them.
